The South Beach Wetlands and Landcare Group held a tree planting day on Sunday, which was attended by about 25 residents.
Member Jodie Honan said 450 new plants had restored indigenous vegetation to the dunes.
The work was funded by Victorian Government Community Volunteer Action and Glenelg Hopkins CMA Victorian Landcare grants.
“A lot of people speak about the sheoaks so it’s lovely to be able to put them back in,” Ms Honan said.
More plantings will be held in coming weeks. For more information go to the Port Fairy Community Noticeboard Facebook page.
