Extra upgrades to roads, intersections and bridges in regional and rural Victoria will be possible through a $25 million funding pool announced by the state government.

The Local Roads to Market Program, which can be accessed by rural, regional and outer-suburban council, has been funded by the $9.7 billion lease of the Port of Melbourne.

Roads Minister Luke Donnellan said the government was working with the Victorian Farmers Federation to roll out the fund across the state.
