The recipe that has for years claimed first place at the Warrnambool Show, took the same title at the Royal Melbourne Show on the weekend.
Ms Harris said while her daughter Keren was claiming the most recent victory, she was baking more than 480 scones at the show’s Country Women’s Association Devonshire tea event.
She said her own mother – now 91 – had taught her to cook scones as a child, making the secret family recipe three-generations old but Ms Harris added that it wasn’t all that unique.
“It’s really the knack of knowing how to do it,” she said. “It’s something we’ve always done.”
