Jonathan Brown needed 10 stitches, according to some reports, after cutting his elbow when his bike was hit by a car on the Gold Coast.
BRISBANE Lions captain Jonathan Brown has been hit by a car while cycling on the Gold Coast.
It is understood Brown was on a morning training ride with 20 cyclists through Tallebudgera Valley when he was hit by a car at the intersection of Trees Road and Guineas Creek Road just after 6am.
The former South Warrnambool player suffered a cut to his elbow in the collision and was taken by ambulance to Gold Coast Hospital for a thorough check up, including scans.
According to the Brisbane Football Club, he received 10 stitches to his elbow but was cleared of any serious injury, and has contacted club officials personally to notify them of his well-being.
The crash is the latest in a series of setbacks for Brown, who has suffered severe facial injuries in the past two seasons.
The three-time premiership forward damaged his jaw, eye socket and voicebox in round one 2011 against Fremantle, sidelining him for eight weeks.
His comeback was short-lived when he suffered another facial injury eight weeks into his return and needed season-ending surgery.
Brown was again injured in February when he collided with Lions team-mate and fellow South Warrnambool export Matt Maguire in a marking drill at training.
The inspirational leader played 20 games and kicked 47 goals in 2012.
