THE Golden Plains Festivals' beloved matriarch Auntie Meredith was so excited about the line-up for the seventh annual event, they snuck out mention last week that George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic were on the bill.
Just days later, we've got the full line-up for the March long weekend event, with a huge and varied list of acts set to join the already announced P-Funk and indie chanteuse Cat Power in the Supernatural Amphitheatre near Meredith, Victoria.
Here goes: DINOSAUR JR, TALLEST MAN ON EARTH, THE JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION, PURITY RING, FLUME, MOODYMANN, THE MARK OF CAIN, TORO Y MOI, WILD NOTHING, PSARANTONIS, NAYSAYER AND GILSUN, SIX FT HICK, MULATU ASTATKE, JULIO BASHMORE, MELBOURNE SKA ORCHESTRA, CLIENT LIAISON, DICK DIVER, KEB DARGE, BUSHWALKING, OPOSSOM, CHRIS RUSSELL'S CHICKEN WALK, BARRY DICKINS, NO ZU, ZANZIBAR CHANEL, POST PERCY, and REDD KROSS.
That means we've got grunge legends (Dinosaur Jr), Ethiopan pop stars (Mulatu Astatke), Aussie-American hard-rockers (The Mark Of Cain), a Greek lyra player (Psarantonis), a 26-piece groove machine (Melbourne Ska Orchestra), a DJ with four decades on the decks (Keb Darge), and alt-rock heroes Redd Kross.
Plus P-Funk and Cat Power.
The first round of tickets were allocated today, but more will be available. Head to http://goldenplains.com.au for more details.
