Dipper headlined Are You Right, Mate?, a men’s night aimed at encouraging more open conversations about health and well-being and to seek help when needed.
South West Healthcare acting mental health services director James McInnes, also a guest speaker on the night, said about 120 men attended the event, held at the Lismore football clubrooms.
“Men are quite shocking at looking after their health,” he said.
“It’s about looking after yourself and looking after your mates.
“It’s OK to ask a mate if he’s OK… a lot of times men don’t like talking about their emotions… By asking them if they’re ok you’re opening up that discussion.”
Mr McInnes said the audience was also told where to go for more help.
Dipper spoke about his life journey and related it back to the night’s theme.
“He was really motivated and inspiring,” Mr McInnes said.
