Warrnambool City Council is seeking comment on a draft development plan for the oval that has incorporated ideas from key stakeholders and users groups.
The council said the development of Reid Oval was one of its strategic priority projects. The first stage of the oval’s development, completed in 2015, included improvements to netball facilities and a new electronic scoreboard.
The new development plan will guide the next stages for Reid Oval’s enhancement.
The council said stakeholders in the oval had told it they wanted Reid Oval to be the premier outdoor sports ground in the Great South Coast region.
The proposed upgrades identified so far through prior consultation are for improvements to the oval’s playing surface, lighting, player and umpire amenity, spectator amenities, cricket training facilities and for offices for state/regional sporting associations.
