The new Certificate III in Guiding course will start later this year and will open up opportunities for interpretive guiding in everything from cruise ships to cultural sites as adventure and nature-based tourism continues to expand.
The course will be delivered by Penny Irons who has 25 years teaching experience in tourism specialising in guiding and most recently coordinating the William Angliss guiding course.
South West TAFE Travel, Tourism and Events Coordinator Katrina Barnes said there was a demonstrated need for guides. She said guides were needed to offer interpretive tours that educated and entertained visitors across the region.
