Weeran Angus and Upper Murray Seeds will host a combined event to demonstrate the benefits of various pastures on livestock.
The national seed business joined Hamilton’s seed-stock operation to showcase almost 50 different grasses, cereals and clovers at the Byaduk site.
Weeran Angus principal Jo Moore said the event was “unique” and would be open to all from 10am on Wednesday, September 7 with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided.
Ms Moore said it would give farmers the opportunity to “compare and contrast” the varieties of seed that could grow in the Hamilton climate.
“It will be a very interesting day for everyone,” she said.
Ms Moore said the sale bulls – being offered at 1pm on Saturday, September 13 – would be on display at the event and available for inspection, alongside “donor cows and their progeny from an autumn embryo transfer program”.
A guided tour through the demonstration site will begin at Weerangourt cattle yards from 10am and will be followed by a talk from the ANZAC Dairy Discussion Group, with David Byrd providing an “update on the dairy industry”.
Ms Moore said anyone hoping to attend could RSVP or seek further information by calling her mobile on 0429 787 258 or Chris Harkness on 0428 406 464.
