The Blues held off consecutive charges from a hungry Panmure outfit to skip away with a 12 goal (63-51) victory in yesterday’s first semi-final.
The Blues, who were defeated by Dennington last weekend, will now have the chance to put their demons to bed in a do-or-die preliminary final clash on Saturday.
Nirranda coach Steph Townsend, who shot a half-ton of goals in the rout, said her side was keen to lock horns with Dennington yet again.
“We went to watch the Merrivale-Dennington game last week, and a few of the girls were like ‘I’d love to have another crack at beating Dennington’,” she laughed.
“But I think we deserve to be there next week – not that Panmure don’t – but we worked really hard to get ourselves into the position that we’re in.

“It’s exciting times for us and for the club. I don’t think they’ve been in this position for a while.” Townsend was proud of the Blues’ ability to carry momentum through the semi-final.
