“We were just playing like witches hats, really,” he said.

“We were just standing still and just letting them do whatever they wanted.

“They played some really good football, I’ll give them that, but just every area of the game they were all over us and we just allowed them to do it.”

The Dogs lifted in the second half to outscore Old Collegians seven goals to four, but the damage on the scoreboard was beyond repair.

Lewis said the Dogs would have to brush themselves off and look to bounce back against Nirranda in next Saturday’s preliminary final.

“It could’ve been a thing as well that we were flat on our legs when they (Old Collegians) were fresh,” he said.

“We’ve just got to do everything to make sure that we’re the running side next week.”
