During the month of June more than 150 fitness enthusiasts from Warrnambool 24/7 Fitness paid $5 each to help complete 500,000 burpees. “We wanted a challenge that represented the challenge some people face each day. Burpees are hard, they’re definitely not everyone’s favourite excercise.” gym owner Stuart Roe said.
Money raised from the challenge was given to the autism support group I-Can, local group Standing Tall and the Mitchell family, whose daughter Elsie recently underwent life-saving leukemia treatment. “We don’t really like the limelight so this is quite overwhelming, we’re very grateful,” mum Geraldine Mitchell said.
