The Grassmere farmer said he had reared beef on his farm for more than 60 years and almost all of his life.
“I don’t know anything else but farming,” he said.
Mr Miller said he was one of many farmers benefiting from the rise in cattle prices.
“It’s a good year to be in beef,” he said.
“I only buy Moyne Falls cattle and even though they’re not the biggest… they’re worth just as much because of the price per kilo.”
Mr Miller buys his angus beef steers at eight-months from the monthly store sale and then rears them to sell at the Warrnambool Saleyards. He sold a pen of 14 on Wednesday.
He said the volcanic soil made it easier to grow pasture as it didn’t bog-up with the rain of winter which made winter farming easier.
“The weather’s been pretty good mostly,” he said.
Mr Miller said Wednesday’s yarding was smaller than usual but he was expecting prices to remain high.
