The Port Fairy Jazz Festival will take place on February 10-12.
According to a newsletter sent out by organisers, the festival grew out of the Grampians Jazz Festival “after it became apparent that nobody was going to continue the (festival in 2016)”.
“The committee’s aim is to present a friendly jazz festival based on the approach used for 30 years by the Grampians Jazz Festival,” the newsletter states, with aims of attracting 1200 to 1500 punters and musicians.
“The key components are the same, starting (with) the same weekend … in February.
“It is a low-cost festival run by volunteers … from Friday 5pm to Sunday 6pm, has a Saturday morning street parade, and a Sunday morning gospel service.”
Venues will include The Stump, Royal Oak, Victoria Hotel, Star Of The West, Reardon Theatre, Lecture Hall, St Pat’s Hall, the RSL, the Senior Citizens, and Fiddlers Green.
Band applications are open until October 15. Early bird ticket sales are open via www.portfairyjazz.com.au or by contacting 0420 327 851 for details on a manual purchase.
