Those interested in joining the Port Fairy unit are invited to a barbecue and open afternoon at 81 Sackville Street this Sunday, August 28 between noon and 4pm where they can meet members, see what they do and find out how to join.
Controller Steve McDowell said volunteering with SES was an incredibly rewarding experience that anyone could be a part of.
“There really is a role for everyone here.”
Those interested in joining the Warrnambool unit are invited to a meeting at the unit next Monday, August 29 on 40 Walsh Rd from 7pm.
Controller Giorgio Palmeri said he was keen to welcome new faces.
Both units meet for training every Tuesday night at their respective headquarters.
A recruitment campaign across August has hoped to inspire more south-west community members to take up orange and join the unit in their town.
Members of the VIC SES receive nationally recognised training and respond to emergencies during storms and floods. They are also required to assist police and ambulance and are the largest provider of road rescue in the state.
