A PET parade, duck race and the traditional street parade brought Cobden alive at the weekend.
Ideal weather conditions helped ensure the 17th annual Cobden Spring Festival was a success.
Festival organising committee member Barbara Cowley said the street parade on Saturday attracted one of the biggest crowds the festival had seen.
“It was excellent, the weather was great,” she said.
“It was the first time that we had a duck race at Lake Cobden. We had Joffa from the Collingwood Football Club cheer squad signing autographs and we had Tim Mason the junior magician.” Cobden Kindergarten was judged the best entry in the street parade while the Country Women’s Association’s entry focused on farm safety and Cobden Primary School pupils dressed up as ducks.
“The community and organisations are very supportive of the festival,” Mrs Cowley said, with people from across the south-west making the trip to to Cobden. She said the committee worked hard to bring the weekend to life.
On Saturday the festival also included a Big Night Out of music and entertainment and a street market.
Yesterday there was a pet parade, with entries ranging from a yabby to a calf.
