The 31-year-old arrived in Sydney earlier this week to complete his medical examination on Tuesday, finalising his one-year contract with the Sky Blues worth approximately $1 million. Bobo will replace Alex Brosque as the club's second marquee alongside Slovakian international Filip Holosko, who was a former teammate of the Brazilian while playing for Turkish giants Besiktas.

A powerful, mobile and technical striker, Bobo joins Sydney after a season with Brazilian club Gremio and previous spells at Besiktas, Kayserispor in Turkey and Cruzeiro and Corinthians in Brazil.

Sydney were offered a number of high-pedigree strikers to sign as their marquee though sources suggest Bobo remained their main transfer target throughout the recruitment process. After completing his deal on Tuesday, Bobo travelled to Gold Coast to join his new teammates during a week-long pre-season training camp.

His signing is a major coup for the club which is also set to retain the services of former marquee Brosque who will likely sign a new contract in the coming weeks once he completes his full recovery from injury. It's understood the signings of Bobo and Brosque will finalise the club's search for attacking players after a goal-shy campaign last season.

Sydney FC have also signed young defender George Tomotheou on a two-year deal, promoting the teenager from their youth team after impressing during their National Premier League season.

Meanwhile, the chances of Ronaldinho playing in the A-League appear unlikely with talks between the player's representatives and Football Federation Australia going cold. Ronaldinho's brother and agent outlined his plans to travel to Australia to negotiate a guest stint this week but it is understood there has been no further communication with the FFA.
