Mini festival gets the kids jumping

THE Civic Green was the place to be for kids yesterday with a jumping castle, face painting, a petting zoo and live music all part of the Warni Kidz Fest.

The miniature Fun4Kids festival was organised by South West TAFE’s intermediate and senior Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students.

They  have worked on the project all year.

The event was part of a group project for the eight students studying VCAL at this level.

The students, all under 19 years old, decided to run this event to give something back to the community.

VCAL co-ordinator Emma McDonald said yesterday the students had put in a massive effort.

“It’s sensational,” Ms McDonald said.

“It’s really a miniature Fun4Kids. The kids have organised everyone.

“They’ve done all the calling, sent out all the letters and looked after the insurance,” she said.

“They’ve come out of secondary schools and they’ve been able to come together as a group.

“They’ve come a long way since the start of the year.

“We are very proud of them and it would be great to see the community come along and support their efforts.”

The event was for children under the age of 14.
