MEET Miss EveElle Scarlett and Miss Cherry Ripple.
A Warrnambool IT technician and a photographer, they will compete in the state finals for Miss Pinup Australia.
The best friends, Melanie McLean and Kellie Hoy, aka Miss EveElle Scarlett and Miss Cherry Ripple respectively, said they loved everything about the 1950s pinup era.
“This is how we roll,” Ms McLean said. “It’s a good era.
“Most of the clothes from the traditional ’50s are conservative but they show you off in all the right places.
“They’re not as revealing but they’re more flattering.”

The women are competing in the Miss Illustrated category which is for women with permanent artwork on their bodies. Ms Hoy said the look often drew compliments from onlookers.
“We just went to a VW festival on the weekend and people were asking us to have our photo taken with their cars,” she said.
“We’re posing up a storm. I guess we do sort of stand out — given our hair colour and tattoos,” Ms McLean said.
The women need to complete a series of workshops in posing, hair, and meeting and greeting and are looking for sponsorship from the community.
They will compete at the end of January next year.
