The Blues held the Kangaroos goalless until the final term, and were buoyed by a best-on-ground effort from Otto Opperman in the middle of the park.
Warrnambool coach John Cook praised his side’s endeavour and effort in the win.
“We understood what we had to apply against Hamilton and we put a real focus on things like tackling and shepherding. They were at a high standard,” he said.
“We had some bigger bodies around the contest but we understand Hamilton are in a development phase.
“Otto Opperman had plenty of the ball but was able to generate tackling pressure. That’s one of our core values.”
Warrnambool, who currently hold third spot, will travel to take on an in-form Portland for their next hit-out in a fortnight.
