Freedman's consistent galloper Marwood gave him the last metropolitan winner for the season when he defeated Magicus and Caprese.
The six-year-old, who was having his 10th start for Freedman, was perfectly ridden by Damian Lane in the 1400-metre race.
Freedman said Marwood deserved the victory.
"He's been running well but has been unlucky at his last few runs," he said.
"It was a lovely ride by Damian. Marwood travelled strongly in the run.
“His win has ended a frustrating run for the horse.
“It's his second win with me."
Marwood took his stake earnings to more than $150,000 with the triumph.
Meanwhile, Darren Weir's boom colt Mahuta, which trains at Warrnambool, made a great return to racing finishing third in the $150,000 Bletchingly Stakes.
