The Dennington midfielder was a clear best on ground to coach Darcy Lewis in Saturday’s 14.14 (98) to 9.10 (64) home win over Timboon Demons.
It was Edwards’ first game back in the middle of the ground, after spending last week in the forward line following an extended stint on the sidelines.
“He was absolutely brilliant,” Lewis said.
“We brought him back after 12 weeks … we tried to ease him back into it, but he was back in the midfield this week. Brandon was unreal.”
Edwards teamed well with ruckman Justin Wallace as the Dogs turned a two-goal deficit at the last break into a comfortable 34-point win, courtesy of an eight-goals-to-one fourth quarter.
But Lewis said the contest was tight throughout.
“Our third quarter was good, but we were not able to get the score on the board,” he said.
“In the last quarter we really lifted the work rate and … things started falling our way.”
The Demons fought hard, but ran out of rotations as the game went on.
They lost key players in Brendan Hickey and Sam Newey during the third term, and by 10 minutes into the last quarter, they were out of bench players.
“We lost them and we couldn’t cover them,” Demons coach Mick Hunt said.
“Our effort was excellent. I would have said for three quarters and 10 minutes of football for the day, we were certainly the better side.”
