Detective Inspector Stuart Sims, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said the Subaru station wagon, valued at about $16,750, was stolen from Rifle Butts Road about 5am.
He said the vehicle was found burnt out and completely destroyed at 5.30am on Cants Road.
"The vehicle was stolen, torched and completely gutted," he said.
"The vehicle owner has been left shattered. Police require assistance in solving crime and we're urgently seeking information from the public to quickly and effectively solve this theft and arson."
