The owner of Forgeress has decided to sell the six-year-old at the Inglis Thoroughbred Sale on August 19 after she has earnt more than $230,000 in stakemoney under the care of Scott.
“I've known for a fair while the owner was going to sell her, but it still does not make it easy – you get really attached to your horses,” he said.
Scott will use the services of talented apprentice jockey Jessica Payne.
“They have rated the track at Caulfield a soft five. I would have liked it if the surface was a heavy eight or nine because she loves wet track," he said.
Meanwhile, Racing Victoria stewards have dropped a charge against Warrnambool trainer Alan Peterson relating to the detection of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Ibuprofen, in a pre-race blood sample taken from Kuakata. The stewards decided not to charge Peterson under the Rules of Racing. Ibuprofen was detected in a pre-race blood sample collected from Kuakata on May 20 at Geelong when he ran last in a restricted race.
Stewards gave strong consideration to the fact that Peterson had proactively undertaken elective testing via Racing Analytical Services Limited on Kuakata prior to the running of the Geelong race and that this testing had been clear of Ibuprofen.
Warrnambool May Racing Carnival and the Camperdown, Dunkeld and Woodford cups are in line for Racing Victoria event of the year.
