The ute, which was completely destroyed, was found on the side of the Warrumyea Road.
The ute did not have registration plates.
Anyone with knowledge of a missing Ford utility, which may have been white, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
EARLIER: Police believe five break-ins at Warrnambool businesses early Wednesday are linked.
Detective Senior Constable Elissa Smith, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said it was believed the crimes were committed between 3am and 4am Wednesday.
A tool box containing equipment valued at $20,000 was stolen from a building site behind Gateway Plaza.
Coins valued at $3000 were removed from the Mr Magic Car Wash at the intersection of Raglan Parade and Banyan Street.
Entry was forced into the office area.
A vehicle was used to reverse into windows at Swich Car Rentals at Raglan Parade, west Warrnambool.
The office was ransacked but nothing stolen and the cost of damage has been estimated at $2000.
There was also an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry to nearby Roes Motorcycles and Mowers.
Detective Senior Constable Smith said there was evidence to suggest the crimes were linked.
"Police members are conducting forensic investigations and security camera footage is being reviewed," she said.
"Investigations are ongoing but at this stage we're calling for anyone with information to contact the Warrnambool CIU or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," she said.
