Mr Ramsay, a Member for Western Victoria, said the joint parliamentary Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development Committee was seeking public feedback on the funding and budgetary pressures facing councils.
The committee is also looking at the capacity of councils to meet infrastructure needs, the fair distribution of the rates burden and the impact of rate capping policies.
“Farming communities have particularly suffered from inequity under the current rating model and felt the system has worked against them,” Mr Ramsay said.
“I strongly recommend communities of ratepayers that want to have a say to put in a submission by September 12, whether it is one page of 100 pages,” he said.
People can also address the committee personally.
