Entries from 16 artists from across the south-west have adorned the walls of the Warrnambool Art Gallery since Saturday with attendance numbers looking positive.
“The Warrnibalds always attract a lot of attention and this year is no exception,” a gallery representative said.
A partnership between Western District Employment Access (WDEA) and the Warrnambool Art Gallery (WAG), the Warrnibald has a similar format to the famous Archibald Prize – but with a south-west focus.
Money raised from the exhibition goes to support WDEA’s ArtLink initiative, which provides opportunities for people with a disability or experiencing disadvantage to participate in art.
Prizes this year include the Judge's Choice and the People's Choice, each worth $2000.
The judge this year will be Hamilton Art Gallery director Sarah Schmidt.
