Seven young bands covered a variety of genres at this year’s FReeZA Push Start competition with The Lucky Household announced as winners on the night.
Winning band members were Tav Watson, Liam Russell, Jayden Gelbraith and Cooper Lower.
Event manager Tammy Young said the bands played everything from pop rock through to metal and rap.
“We were also lucky enough to have the 2015 Moomba Grand Final Battle of the Bands winners, Against Our Pride, perform as the headline act,” she said. “Our judges had a tough time deciding on the winner.”
Corangamite Shire received state government funding for the event with winners proceeding to regional finals in October. The grand final will be held during Melbourne’s Moomba Festival next March.
Ms Young said the sound and lighting producer Chris Barks had done a fantastic job on the night.
