The meeting, which was transferred from Ballarat, is under threat after the Warrnambool racecourse copped 42 millimetres of rain in the last week, taking the rainfall at the course to 102mm for the month of July.
This year nearly 480mm has fallen in Warrnambool compared to 380mm last year.
Local steward Frank Beattie inspected the course on Monday morning with Warrnambool Racing Club course manager Daniel Lumsden.
Lumsden said another inspection would be held again early on Tuesday.
"It all depends whether we get much more rain on Monday,” he said.
“There is some patchy surface water on the track already but I'm hopeful that will go with some wind.
“We've had a lot of rain over the last few months. For the whole month of July last year we had 86mm and so far this month we've had 102mm on the back of two months of heavy rain."
A restricted steeplechase which is one of three jumps races set down for decision on the eight-race card will be run on the course proper.
"We've just had so much rain we could not run the steeplechase in the paddocks," Lumsden said.
"We made the decision for horse and rider safety late last week the 'chase would be run on the course proper."
Racing Victoria announced last week Warrnambool had picked up the July 28 race date from Ballarat as it prepare for the inaugural two-day Ballarat Jumps Festival on August 20 and 21. Warrnambool was forced to transfer its June 26 meeting to Coleraine following heavy rain.
