Consultants RMC Group want people to provide their feedback to assist in finalising the Glenelg Rural Land Use Strategy.
The consultants met with people in Heywood, Cape Bridgewater and Portland on Monday. Meetings are at Nelson, Dartmoor and Casterton on Tuesday.
The strategic document will identify and address existing and emerging rural land use issues across the shire. It will assist council in making decisions on rural land use conflicts, based on best practice land use, environmental and risk management planning.
“This strategy will assist council in pinpointing an area suitable for a particular rural development,” project manager and council planner Liz Regent said.
“It is looking at agricultural value and how to protect, and grow, this important sector for generations to come.”
