It was Camperdown which prevailed in another close contest – this time defeating Port Fairy 41-38 – but barely anything separated the competition’s top teams all day as they put on a masterclass of wet weather netball.
The Magpies didn’t miss a beat – despite being without Jaymie Finch, Grace Lucas and Emily Stephens – as Gabby Beaver, Caitlin Hall and Chelsea Baker seamlessly slotted in.
“I’m just glad the two juniors were able to stand up in the pressure game and played really well,” Camperdown coach Peter Finch said.
“It was pretty physical and the girls were going in and weren’t giving up any space for anybody.”
Port Fairy coach Megan Titmus said it was good for her charges to know “it’s anyone’s game” after another close contest between the two pacesetters.
