Senior Constable Don Camilleri, of Camperdown police, said the thieves cut a lock on the front door of the shed to gain access.
They took one bale which weighed about 170kg, two weighing 100kg and one which weighed 90kg.
“It’s fairly weighty stuff. They would have had to use a trolley to get it out,” he said.
The theft happened sometime between 5.30pm on Thursday and 9am Friday.
Senior Constable Camilleri said he was also called to the Derrinallum tip on Friday after thieves broke into the premises sometime last week.
He said nothing was stolen but a lock on the front gate was cut, as well as the the lock on the storage shed.
Thieves also jemmied open the wooden door of the office.
