She has recently returned to the south-west after a stint working in Melbourne and living in Geelong.
Originally from the city, she worked for Target for 17 years then moved to Harris Scarfe, taking on the role of store manager.
“Next I wanted a bit of a challenge, so we moved off to Melbourne to see what it was like,” Mrs Handley-Esam said.
“I was appointed the Point Cook store manager and was there for five years before going to Airport West.”
Mrs Handley-Esam and her husband Jason returned to the south-west after missing their family.
“We made the decision and within four weeks I was back home, and Jase came three months later,” she said.
“It’s good to be home with family. We tried to come home at least every six weeks.”
She is the retail manager at Priceline Pharmacy and is also one of the business representatives on the Liebig Leadership Group, who will assist Warrnambool City Council with the delivery of the City Centre Renewal project.
“I think I can bring a positive side to the group,” she said.
“It’s going to be amazing. Warrnambool is going ahead. We need to move with the times and accept change.”
She said once the renewal works were completed traders would want to open shops on Liebig Street.
“I am really excited to work with the traders,” Mrs Handley-Esam said.
