Simply Energy has donated $50,000 to the South West Regional Cancer Centre for a patient transport vehicle.
Peter’s Project Foundation’s Vicki Jellie said the vehicle would transport patients to and from chemotherapy and radiotherapy appointments.
“It’s fabulous,” Ms Jellie said. “There will be some great volunteers that will be able to pick people up if they’re unwell or don’t have someone to help them.”
She said the service would also be available for St John of God Hospital chemotherapy patients to use.
Ms Jellie said the Holden Captiva, purchased from Callaghan Motors, was a top-of-the-range car, which was a comfortable height for people to get in and out of and had leather seats.
Simply Energy CEO Carly Wishart said the organisation was proud to support the foundation and provide help to allow it conduct important work in the south-west community.
Ms Wishart said the donation included the car purchase price, insurance, servicing and petrol for the next four years and would benefit patients in years to come.
