Kathryn Ross was yesterday named in the 2016 Australian Paralympic Team and will fly to Brazil for her third successive Paralympic games in September.
Ross, who had her right knee and ankle joints fused after a lawn mower accident at the age of two, was devastated when she and rowing partner Gavin Bellis missed out on a medal at London 2012.
But the three-time world champion said she would be satisfied with nothing but a gold medal come September.
“My sole aim is to take home that gold medal. We missed it by 0.8 of a second (in Beijing), so we know it’s achievable,” she said.
“We’ve also won the world title ever since missing out on that medal in London, so it would be incredible to finish off the four year cycle with four gold medals.
“In saying that, it would be doing something that has never been done before in rowing. To take out four years of gold medals would be amazing.”
Ross said she was thrilled to don the green and gold for a third successive Paralympic Games.
“We are among the best of the best and being part of a journey with other athletes with such amazing stories and backgrounds is a wonderful experience,” she said.
“Being a Paralympian is quiet honourable.”
The Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will kick off on September 7.
