The swing against incumbent Liberal Dan Tehan on a two-party preferred basis was strongest at the Warrnambool polling booth at Temperance Hall where he suffered a 7.5 per cent swing to Mr Barling.
At Warrnambool West, the swing to Mr Barling was 5.5 per cent while in Mr Barling’s home village of Woodford it was 6.6 per cent in his favour at the close of counting at the weekend.
At the busy Warrnambool pre-poll centre, Mr Tehan’s vote dropped slightly by 0.19 per cent. In Mr Tehan’s home city of Hamilton, he incurred a swing against him of 1.9 per cent but enjoyed a 1.9 per cent swing in his favour at the Hamilton pre-poll voting centre.
In Portland, the swings against Mr Tehan were 14 per cent at the Portland North booth, 6.2 per cent at the Portland central booth, 3.6 per cent at the pre-poll centre but 0.8 per cent in his favour at the Portland TAFE booth.
Around Warrnambool, Mr Tehan had swings in his favour of 1.9 per cent at Port Fairy, 0.1 per cent at Allansford, .2 per cent at Mailors Flat and .7 per cent at Nullawarre.
There were negative swings of 4.3 per cent against him at Koroit, 4.5 per cent at Purnim and 6.4 per cent at Panmure.
In Camperdown, the swing was 1.2 per cent towards Mr Tehan and 0.6 per cent the same way in Cobden.
In Terang, it was 3.7 per cent against Mr Tehan and 3.9 per cent the same way in Mortlake but up by .1 per cent in Timboon.
At Hawkesdale, Mr Tehan’s vote was up by nearly seven per cent while it dropped by 2.6 per cent at Macarthur.
In Derrinallum, Mr Tehan’s vote dropped by 3.3 per cent and by 2.8 per cent in Lismore, His vote rose by 2.6 per cent in Casterton and .9 per cent in Coleraine.
