The premiership forward hobbled to the bench in the third term after aggravating an existing ankle complaint in a contest with Cats defender Brett Membrey.
Lewis had ice on the injury at the final break as he implored his charges to run out the contest.
“I have probably been carrying a bit of a dodgy ankle and getting through all right but I just landed wrong on it today,” he said.
“It might be all right. Hopefully it’s just a bit of a stinger and we’ll see how it goes. Jordan Scott had a bit of trouble with his quad as well, but other than that I think we got through all right.”
Dennington took control of the contest courtesy of a 10-minute purple patch to start the second term.
A four-goal blitz, including two to Mark Murphy, turned a one-point quarter-time deficit into a 20-point half-time advantage before an arm-wrestle ensued after the main break.
“We probably thought it was going to come in a bit wetter than it did, but fortunately we were able to adjust and get our running game going and get a lot of pressure on the around the ground,” Lewis said.
“Our midfield was really good, our centre clearances were really good and Billy Keane was super in the ruck today.”
