Police officers in Portland last night at the scene of a brawl that occurred after the shooting. Officers declined to speculate on whether the two incidents are connected.
A MAN who was shot during a night of violence in Portland yesterday has died in hospital from his wounds.
The 20-year-old man was taken to Portland District Health's emergency department around 5pm yesterday with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
He was later flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he died this morning.
Homicide squad detectives are on their way to Portland to investigate.
Police arrested a 26-year-old Portland man at a house in Willunga Street. The man is expected to appear in court this morning.
