Rangers coach Cameron Pyke said excitement levels were high on Sunday after becoming the first team to knock off ladder leader Forest, and all teams could take something out of the contest going into the final two months of the season.
“It not only gives us a boost of confidence, but shows the other teams it (beating Forest) can be done,” he said.
Warrnambool capitalised on Forest’s rare defensive lapses in the first half, with Michael Lougghead putting through two goals.
But importantly for Pyke, the Rangers limited their own lapses.
“We didn’t make a whole lot of errors ourselves,” he said.
“We know that our young side can match it with the other teams for 90 minutes – not just attacking pressure, but defensively.”
