The Koroit woman was travelling south down Lake View Road on her way to Warrnambool when the accident occurred about 6.35pm.
Koroit police Sergeant Pat Day said a large grey kangaroo hopped into the four-door Ford Festiva hatchback, damaging the driver’s side headlight, guard and bonnet.
“It ploughed into the side of her car,” Sergeant Day said.
The woman continued driving for about 500 metres before stopping to assess the damage to the vehicle.
“She wasn’t injured but she couldn’t get out. She called the RACV who called police and we put some force on the door to open it.”
Sergeant Day said CFA, SES and ambulance also attended.
“She was right as rain but her car couldn’t be driven and had to be towed,” he said.
The kangaroo was killed in the collision.
