Lady Selkirk, ridden by top apprentice jockey Michael Dee, was held up for a run at different stages in the $80,000 race before finishing strongly to defeat Justa Hint and Hursley.
Warrnambool-based trainer Matthew Williams said the three-year-old filly was following in the footsteps of her half-brother Turnitaround, who won two races at Flemington in a sequence of four victories.
"The family like it here – it's Turnitaround's track, and it might be Lady Selkirk's now too," Williams said.
"I thought at the 300m there, you can see him (Dee) trying to find room.
“I thought if he gets through here, she'll give this a fair shake, and then he had to go back to the inside.
“She's a pretty handy filly. I don't know where we'll end up with her.
“I think she'll be better again as she gets older like Turnitaround."
Saturday’s win took Lady Selkirk's record to three victories with four minor placings from nine starts.
Winslow-raised trainer Ciaron Maher's talented mare Azkadellia ran a gallant second behind Miss Cover Girl in the $500,000 group one Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Azkadellia jockey Nick Hall pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge following his ride on the four-year-old.
Hall's suspension starts at midnight on July 2 and ends on July 15.
