On their home turf at Melville Oval, the Kangaroos trailed by just 19 points at half-time.
But dreams of an upset were put to bed in the second half as the Eagles got out of first gear and cruised to a 19.18. (132) to 8.9. (57) win.
Eagles co-coach Brendan Murfett said his team’s second half was much better than its first.
“We didn’t play well early and to Hamilton Kangaroos credit they did,” Murfett said.
“We knew we had to improve and play to our structures and we did that in the last two quarters.”
