SNOW fell in the Grampians and the Otways, hail and sleet turned paddocks and roads a whiter shade of pale, and strong icy winds sent the rain sideways.

Warrnambool’s temperature couldn't even scrape into double figures on Friday as a big freeze chilled the region –an expected top of 11 degrees was apparently too much to ask for.
Instead, the mercury peaked at 8.9 degrees in the Mailors Flat weather station. At noon it was 4.9 degrees.
It was a similar story around the region. Mortlake’s top was 8.3, Hamilton hit 7.1, Portland airport recorded 8.7, Mt Gellibrand was 6 degrees, Casterton crept to 8.6, and Port Fairy reached a positively balmy 10 degrees at 4pm.
Snow was reported on Mt William in the Grampians. There were also falls reported at Elliminyt, Forrest, Beech Forrest and Barongarook.
Things are expected to improve slightly over the coming week, with daily top temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees predicted for Warrnambool.
