The South Warrnambool teenager was named in Vic Country’s 25-player squad for its final two AFL under 18 national championships games, starting with South Australia at Etihad Stadium
Fellow Hampden league talents, Koroit pair Jarrod Korewha and Willem Drew, were also picked.
South Warrnambool forward Shannon Beks, who played in the first two games at the championships, missed out.
Vic Country team manager Phil Partington said McCluggage pulled up sore after a dominant 25-disposal, three-goal performance against Vic Metro on June 14.
“He had an x-ray to see the extent of the damage,” Partington said.
“He had a bruised foot, a week off and no training, but he’s pulled up well.”
