Corangamite Film Society will again host a sampling from the St Kilda Short Film Festival on Saturday.
Thirteen mini-movies – including the best short film competition winner Death In Bloom – will screen at Camperdown’s Theatre Royal from 7.30pm covering comedy, horror, animation and documentary. Corangamite Film Society will also be screening its monthly classic movie on June 26 at 2pm. This month’s selection is Neil Jordan’s 1992 psychological thriller.
Hamilton will also have a couple of arthouse treats on offer over the coming week, starting with Trumbo at Hamilton Cinema.
The film earned Bryan Cranston an Oscar nomination for his lead role as Dalton Trumbo, the acclaimed screenwriter who is blacklisted from working in Hollywood in the 1950s because of his affiliation with the Communist Party. The film also stars Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, Louis C.K.,Elle Fanning, and John Goodman.
It will be shown on Thursday at 7.30pm and Friday at 2pm.
Hamilton Art Gallery will screen the documentary The Artist Was A Woman on June 21 from 10am. The film celebrates 400 years of female artists.
It is being screened by the Friends of the Hamilton Gallery.
F Project Cinema is also holding one of its bi-monthly screenings next week.
The Warrnambool film group will be showing The Infinite Man at Mozart Hall on June 22 from 7.30pm.
The Australian time travel comedy received almost unanimously positive reviews from critics upon release in 2014 and stars Cleverman’s Josh McConville, Packed To The Rafters’ Hannah Marshall, and The Slap’s Alex Dimitriades.
