THIEVES forced their way into a Warrnambool residence and stole cash and jewellery from an elderly person’s home last week.
Warrnambool crime investigation unit said the break-in at the Skiddaw Crescent home happened between Wednesday night and Friday morning.
Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool CIU, said the front door of the house was forced open and a safe containing cash and jewellery was stolen.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said a TV, DVD player, alcohol and other unidentified items were also taken.
He said it was a substantial burglary on an elderly person’s home.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating a break-in at an unoccupied home at Chenoweth Crescent in Warrnambool at the weekend.
A fridge, which was still in its packaging, was stolen from the garage.
Police said they believed the burglary happened between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
