Margaret Baker, 70, fell on March 29, fracturing three bones in her left hand and suffering back and shoulder complications.
Her hand has also become infected and is now limp and almost useless.
Ms Baker said she had come to Warrnambool shopping for years.
"I love shopping in Warrnambool. I come down and go back on the train," she said.
"It was about 5pm and I was coming back to the station to catch the train at 5.30pm.
"I just caught my toe in the gap between two of the pieces of footpath. One's a bit raised and down I went. It was like flying without wings."
Ms Baker said she landed on her left hand and face.
"I'm a bit incapacitated. I waited in Colac with urgent care for three hours and then a doctor gave me a bandage," she said.
"Two days later, after a lot of pain and suffering, it was found I had broken bones in my hand.
"I was in plaster for six weeks. I just don't want it to happen to someone else."
The retired nurse said she just doesn't want something similar happening to another person.
"It wouldn't take much to fix it," Ms Baker said.
A Warrnambool City Council spokesman said the council was sorry to hear someone had fallen over on the path.
“The footpath is inspected regularly and any trip hazards above the trigger height specified in the road management plan, which is 30mm, are rectified,” he said.
