The public is being invited to turn a well-known artwork from the WAG archives into a cake, with an information session to be held at the gallery on Monday at noon.
Over the past month, the WAG has turned its regular collection audit into an opportunity for the community to get to know some of the works better but also have a bit of fun with them.
The WAG’s curator of exhibitions and outreach Gareth Colliton said the various activities had allowed people to create their own versions of popular WAG works through crochet, watercolours, face painting, photography, digital media, and even the Japanese flower-arranging artform known as “ikebana”.
The cakes will be unveiled at a special event on Friday but you can find out more information at the session on Monday or by calling the WAG on 5559 4949.
