The unemployment rate in the south-west fell to 5.7 per cent in April, according to new data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

In March, the rate was recorded at 7.4 per cent after rising from a 5.7 per cent rate in February.
The south-west's unemployment rate dropped to 5.7 per cent in April.
The State Government pointed to a drop in the regional Victorian unemployment rate to 6.1 per cent.
The ABS warned the estimates for April and February may be subject to high sampling variability.
