Koroit and District Primary School pupils are sharing their reading skills to help ease the pain for south-west palliative care patients.

The reading forms part of marking National Palliative Care Week and is about providing quality care at the end of life.
South West Heathcare palliative care patient Ern Webb said reading has always been therapeutic for him.
“I used to read to grade 3 and 4s at St Joseph’s Primary School when my grandkids were there. I loved it and now It’s nice to have someone read to me.” he said.
The pupils involved say working with palliative care patients is very rewarding.
“It makes you feel good,” pupil Samantha Holland said.
The pupils are also aware of the realities of dealing with palliative care.
“My teacher chose me because I’m the best reader in my class and I wouldn’t get stressed out about it,” Max McInnes said.
